We recently stumbled onto Lake Gregory Regional Park in Crestline while on vacation in Lake Arrowhead with our 10 year old daughter and our dog. Lake Gregory is about a 20 minute drive from there and turned out to be a fun getaway and great way for all of us to be active.
We took a walk around the lake with the dog and even stopped in at the sweet little dog park to let him run around. The 2.5 mile path was lovely and shady and pretty flat, and gave us spectacular views of the small but serene lake. There were a few water fountains around the lake, but you should carry water if you walk in the warm weather. There were plenty of bathrooms along the way.
After a walk, my husband and daughter went to the beach (note that there are no dogs allowed on the main swimming beach so I just took our guy out for another hike around the lake). The young
Post lunch we rented a row boat that was reasonably priced. It was hard to pick which activity to do (SUP, kayaks, etc) but we rented the boat because the dog could go with us. What a peaceful and pretty lake and we got a great upper body workout from rowing too. We pulled up on a couple of beaches for a quick wade in the lake.
Before going home we went back to the swimming beach. It was fun to swim back and forth across the lake which is approximately 75-100m across. The water park with giant inflatables looked like fun but we'll have to save that for another time.
Having a tween-age daughter, this place really checked all the boxes for us. We will definitely go back up another time and stay locally to take advantage of all the activities we missed this time.
A few notes -
* make sure to bring cash for parking and a pen to scrawl your info on the payment envelope. Once you've paid, you can move between parking lots around the lake.
* There's a nice grocery store near the swimmers beach so it's easy to pick up sandwiches and snacks for your day.
* as I mentioned, dogs are not allowed on the beach but they can be most everywhere else. Plan accordingly.
